The Reno Bighorns will honor Bighorns original head coach, Bill Musselman (1978-79) and former head coach Eric Musselman (2010-11) with Legacy Night during a home game against the Austin Spurs on Monday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.
The throwback night will include the team wearing the Bighorns original 1978 jerseys, a commemorative game night program, on-court recognition of Bill and Eric’s commitment to northern Nevada, fan engagement, swag giveaways and a special throwback game presentation. First 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a special Legacy Night t-shirt sponsored by LP Insurance.
“On behalf of the Musselman Family, I am excited to announce our plans to celebrate the legacy of my father Bill Musselman,” said Eric Musselman, University of Nevada Men’s Basketball Head Coach. “We invite Bighorns and Nevada fans to join us as we honor my father for his accomplishments and recognize his contributions to the original Bighorns team.”
Bill Musselman coached the original Reno Bighorns team of the Western Basketball Association during the 1978-79 season. He led the Bighorns to a 28-20 record and the leagues only WBA title game.
Eric and Bill were the first father-son combination to become head coaches in NBA history. Bill coached the Cleveland Cavaliers (1980-82), Minnesota Timberwolves (1989-91) while Eric coached the Golden State Warriors (2002-04) and the Sacramento Kings (2006-07).
Fans will have the opportunity to donate a book at the Reno Events Center entrance to be donated to local Washoe County schools in need. Fans can also make book donation at the all Full Pedal locations and Carson City Toyota (2590 S Carson St, Carson City, NV 89701).
