Tickets purchased through My Hometown Heroes support college-bound cancer survivors
The Following Was Released by Hometown Heroes:
The Reno Bighorns have selected My Hometown Heroes as the Charity of the Night for Friday, Feb. 2 when the Bighorns face the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 7 p.m. at the Reno Events Center.
The night also marks College Night for the Reno Bighorns, aligning with the mission of My Hometown Heroes, which provides scholarships for college bound cancer survivors. Since 2011 the organization has awarded 56 scholarships to young adult cancer survivors from across the country with the goal of awarding $1 million in scholarships by 2020.
“The 6th Man is a player who comes off the bench during a game to make a difference on the court,” said Danny Heinsohn, founder and executive director of My Hometown Heroes. “Our 6th Man is the incredible community that supports our mission to help bridge the gap between cancer and college. We invite the community to come celebrate the stories, families and supporters of our local cancer survivor scholarship recipients.”
Commemorative Reno Bighorns rally towels will be distributed to all who purchase tickets through a My Hometown Heroes sponsor, ambassador, or online. MHH will also be distributing rally towels to the first 200 people who visit their booth inside the venue. Sponsors include Sierra Nevada Properties, Mont Bleu, Strategic HR Partners and Eide Bailly. Proceeds from tickets sold through My Hometown Heroes will benefit college-bound cancer survivors for the 2018 fall semester.
