The Reno Bighorns will continue their 2017 Season of Doing Good on Wednesday, Dec. 20 with a canned food drive to benefit the St. Paul’s Community Food Pantry, as well as continue their Holiday Giving Tree to benefit the patients at Renown Children’s Hospital. Fans who make a nonperishable food donation will receive a ticket to the night’s game.
The Bighorns have partnered with The St. Paul’s Community Food Pantry for a canned food drive to benefit those who are in need in the greater Reno/Sparks area. The drive will take place during the Bighorns game at 7 p.m. Fans who make a nonperishable food donation will receive a ticket to the game.
The food drive collection will start when doors open at 6 p.m. at the Reno Events Center and will conclude at halftime. Fans can bring any non-perishable food item to the REC entrance, where they will be given a game ticket.
The Community Food Pantry provides emergency food to those who are in need; in the greater Reno/Sparks area. Twice a week, they offer individuals and families once a month a three-day food supply. Since its inception, the food pantry has grown through the dedicated service of its volunteers who log 5000 volunteer hours annually. The food pantry serves 20,000 people annually, half of those served are children.
The Bighorns have also partnered with Renown Children’s Hospital to host a Holiday Giving Tree.
During Wednesday’s game, fans will have a final opportunity to select a tag from the giving tree to provide a gift for a child spending their holiday at Renown Children’s Hospital.
The Bighorns players and coaches will deliver the gifts to the hospital on December 21.
